Rudy Montiel, the ousted director of the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, could receive upwards of $405,000 under an 18- month buyout of his contract, officials said Wednesday.
The city is negotiating a separation package for Montiel, whose contract included a provision that he receive 18 months worth of benefits if he was fired.

Through this notice, the Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) supersedes all prior redelegations of authority for Fair Housing Act complaint processing made within the Offices of the Assistant Secretary for FHEO and the General Deputy Assistant Secretary for FHEO under the Fair Housing Act and redelegates this authority to FHEO region and headquarters staff.

NEW HAVEN -- Housing Authority of New Haven commissioners have approved a lease option on sites in the Hill and Newhallville neighborhoods to the Columbus House Inc. homeless shelter, for use as affordable housing.

WALLINGFORD -- The Housing Authority is expected to become the first in the state to give public housing tenants the right to elect one of their own to represent them.

BREWER The Brewer Housing Authority board discussed medical marijuana use by tenants on Monday afternoon and decided to see what other housing authorities across the state are doing before making any decisions locally.
My question is this: Even though there are a number of states who have approved this, its still a federal law that you cannot use it, board member Allen Campbell said. My concern is how can we go against federal law.

One of the two sites is vacant land known as Sheffield Manor on Division Street in Newhallville.

Out of 119 applicants nationwide, the BMHA was one of 17 housing authorities to be awarded the money over a two-year period to develop a plan to revitalize public housing developments and the communities around them.
