He was the loving husband of Eleanor Witwer Housekeeper with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage in February of this year. He was a kind and generous man who spent his life helping his friends and neighbors, filling their lives with joy and laughter. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the Philadelphia carpenters union as well as the Quarryville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed providing transportation to the Amish community and he also enjoyed spending time with his family. A Venezuelan housekeeper has reached an out-of-court settlement with the Montgomery County family she said treated her like a "prisoner" in their home for four months and never paid her the $350- per-week salary they promised her. Terms of the settlement between Janet Gonzalez and the Caron family of Dickerson were not released. The settlement also resolves litigation brought against the Carons by three other housekeepers, who claimed they were paid much less than the promised $350 but did not allege the same level of mistreatment.

LEWISTON -- A local woman was indicted Wednesday, charged with stealing more than $10,000 from a man who had hired her as a housekeeper. Jennifer J. Ames, 34, of 343 Sabattus St., was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking when the Androscoggin grand jury rose this week.

Pittsburgh police are investigating the fatal shooting of a University of Pittsburgh housekeeper in the Hill District. Delfonte Ellis, 43, was found about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Shawnee Street with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. His live-in girlfriend of eight years said he had been on his way to his job when he was shot.
