The menu of food available on Buffalo streets is going upscale. Competing for gastronomic attention alongside the hot dogs and sausages and bags of chips will be pulled pork sandwiches, fish tacos, braised beef and homemade macaroni and cheese sold from trucks and promoted via Twitter.

HARRISON -- The first Waterford World's Fair supper of the season will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the United Parish Congregational Church, 77 Main St. The menu will be baked stuffed haddock, potato, vegetables, cole slaw, rolls, drink and homemade pies. For those who are not fish lovers there will be homemade macaroni and cheese. The charge is $7 for adults and $3 for kids under 6 years. The dates for the rest of the winter will Jan. 21, Feb. 25 and March 17 with the menus to be decided later.
There's nothing quite as comforting as homemade macaroni and cheese, all creamy inside and crunchy on top. Of course, traditional versions of this classic usually call for at least two cups of cheese, a stick of butter and whole milk or cream. That might be comforting, but it's hardly healthy.
