A hold-harmless agreement protected the operator of a climbing wall from liability for injuries suffered by a plaintiff while engaged in the activity at the behest of his employer, the Idaho Supreme Court has ruled in affirming judgment. The plaintiff and his co-workers participated in a team-building program arranged by their employer at a local university. The program included a climbing wall activity. Several days before the program, the plaintiff's employer required him to sign an agreement prepared by the university holding it harmless from any loss or damage he might incur due to the school's negligence or that of its employees.

A little-known state tax exemption - originally designed to lure manufacturers to Oklahoma while at the same time reimbursing county governments and schools for the lost revenue - has not paid those reimbursements since 2002, creating a $40 million hole in county budgets across the state. Detailed in a memo from Oklahoma County Chief Deputy Assessor Larry Stein to members of the Oklahoma Legislature, Stein said the state's double homestead exemption was put in place to bring manufacturers to Oklahoma. The exemption also included a "hold harmless" clause that said the state would reimburse county governments and schools from the Ad Valorem Reimbursement Fund for their lost revenue.
