Ask students from Hillcrest High School about careers in the medical field, and they are likely to name positions other than a doctor or a nurse. That's because Dr. Michael Ugwueke, administrator at Methodist South Hospital, and his team have joined with neighboring Hillcrest High School to implement a program to teach students about the growing number of nonclinical service occupations within the hospital.
Methodist South is currently guiding 13 Hillcrest High students through its Service Learning Program, which lasts one school year. The students, who are chosen to participate by the school principal or school officials, learn overall job readiness skills such as good work ethic and the importance of having a service-oriented attitude. MAYFIELD HEIGHTS -- William F. Fioritto, 87, of Mayfield Heights, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Hillcrest Hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Cleveland, and had lived in the Blue Rock Springs area and the Mount Carmel/Woodland area until moving to Mayfield Heights.

Hillcrest Medical Center began construction Thursday on a new $60 million cardiac-care center in Tulsa.
The new 160,000-square-foot Hillcrest Heart Pavilion is scheduled for completion in the winter of 2008. Hillcrest will also build a four-story parking garage nearby to accommodate visitors to the new facility.
