The Thomas Dale football team, under the direction of Vic Williams, used its power run game to perfection en route to a state title in 2009. However, it wasn't confined to 2009, in fact the run game was the bread and butter of the Knights football program for the entire time under the tutelage of Williams. So naturally his protA[copyright]gA[copyright], Kevin Tucker, would go back to what worked best, the ground game. Nothing looked more familiar than the L Formation that the Knights used to grind down Dinwiddie 30-18 on Friday. Using a combination of Daniel Reid, Lorenzo Fields and quarterback Quinton Taylor, Thomas Dale rushed for 330 yards on 40 carries, a remarkable eight yards per carry - that is getting the job done.

When Will Isaacs became athletic director at Winfield High School, he knew he might have to put out a few fires, so to speak. But as he supervised his first paid-admission athletic event, a girls soccer doubleheader, he had no idea how literal that phrase could become.
