Richmond County's former chief tax appraiser, Sonny Reece, says this year's property tax assessment change notices are invalid because they were not mailed to property owners in a timely manner after the tax assessors board approved the changes. Mr. Reece, who was forced to resign from his job as Richmond County's chief appraiser in March, has appealed the assessment increase on his Henry Street home based on a state law that he said requires the assessors board to give written notices to taxpayers within five days of approving changes.
