My Administration remains dedicated to eradicating domestic violence and helping victims find the compassion, comfort, and healing they need. In 2003, I announced the creation of the Family Justice Center Initiative to help local communities provide comprehensive services at one location for victims of domestic violence. In 2006, I was proud to sign legislation that reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act to improve criminal justice responses to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

HAVEN works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to put an end to this horrendous crime. HAVEN has been working through our counseling, residential, court advocacy, supervised parenting time, intervention in battering, and START program for more than 30 years to end domestic violence and sexual assault.

Second Chance Employment Services provides free training and job placement to financially at-risk, abused women. In the two years since its inception, the nonprofit agency has placed 178 women, ages 17 to 62, in career-oriented jobs with salaries ranging from $30,000 to $82,000 annually.

Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County is searching for volunteers to help meet the needs of victims of domestic violence.
The organization is looking for volunteers in a variety of areas, including answering the 24-hour hotline, children's services, individual advocacy and education, group facilitation, public education and speaking engagements, front desk coverage, fundraising and court accompaniment.
