NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - New York state trial court judge Helen E. Freedman entered a judgment of close to US$400 million for bonds purchased by U.S. investors, including two hedge funds groups, from defaulting Asia Pulp & Paper Co., Singapore, and its affiliates.
The hedge fund groups involved are managed by Oaktree Capital Management LLC, Los Angeles, Calif., and Gramercy Advisors LLC, Greenwich, Conn., respectively. Along with other creditors, they brought a lawsuit in New York last summer to collect the amount due and received a summary judgment on October. In February 2004, though, the same court granted what seemed a victory to APP.
