Disparity in health outcomes and health status has been studied for many years. The effect of disparities in mortality is of particular interest. A significant volume of research has focused on disparity in mortality with respect to the influence of race, sex, education, occupation and geographic area of residence. This study was conducted to evaluate death rates in Mississippi over a 10-year period of time and the disparities that are present. Comparisons were made across several causes of death with respect to the influence of race, gender and geography. Trends in disparity were studied, along with resultant implications for public health policy and practice. Results of this study were that males have a higher death rate than females. On October 17, 2011, EPA sent the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Air Management Services (AMS) a letter acknowledging that AMS's delegation of authority to implement and enforce National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) had been updated, as provided for under a previously approved delegation mechanism. EPA sent this letter in response to an AMS request for the update. To inform regulated facilities and the public of AMS's updated delegation of authority to implement and enforce NESHAP, EPA is making available a copy of EPA's letter to AMS through this notice.

Questions regarding health care management are interesting, not least because of the nature of health care organizations. Professional expertise is high in these organizations, especially when considering medical and administrative knowledge. Nonetheless, health care management is said to have serious problems, not only in Finland, but also in other Western countries. Why is this? One reason may be the fact that health care management problems are simplified. The concept of "wicked issues" which is discussed in this article can provide the means both to understand and to solve the problems identified in health care management.
