The Board of Trustees seems to have found a good fit for the next president of Heartland Community College.
Allen Goben, president and CEO of Hazard Community and Technical College in Kentucky, will take over July 1 from Heartland's first and only president, retiring Jon Astroth.

It's too soon to say what plans Kristin Williams, who was named Thursday as the next president of Henderson Community College has for the school, but she has said the community will have a role in determining its direction.
Williams, currently interim president and CEO of Hazard Community and Technical College in Hazard, Ky., will succeed Patrick Lake as college president in January."I'm very excited about the opportunity to come and serve the whole region," Williams said. "The college seems like it's doing really great work, and I'm excited to explore more possibilities with the community.

NORMAL - The Heartland Community College board is expected to choose its new president when it meets Tuesday night.
Finalists are Vicky Smith, president, Neosho County Community College, Chanute, Kan.; Doreen Larson, student affairs vice president, Holyoke Community College, Holyoke, Mass.; and Allen Goben, president, Hazard Community and Technical College, Hazard, Ky.
