ST. GEORGE -- Dixie State College made history on Saturday, clinching a share of the Pacific West Conference Championship and securing their first Division II postseason bid with a 106-99 win over Hawaii Pacific University in front of an electric crowd of 2,967 in the Burns Arena.
The win capped off Senior Day festivities celebrating the careers of Andy Palmer, Nick Howard and Adam Ross.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Two days after opening up a six-point lead over second-place BYU-Hawaii, Dixie State continued to play solid soccer Thursday afternoon against Hawaii Pacific University. Deadlocked at the break, the Red Storm scored a pair of goals in the second half to defeat the Sea Warriors 3-1 at Atherton Field on the HPU Hawai'i Loa Campus at Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Three different players scored for Dixie State (10-3, 9-0 Pac West) who moved up two spots to No. 8 in the Division-II West regional rankings. Hawaii Pacific (7-6-1, 5-4) were kept to only five shots -- all coming in the first half.

Katie Lee Humphrey and David Kyle Warren were married in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 19.
The bride, the daughter of Terry and Birgitta Humphrey of Taos, is currently attending Hawaii Pacific University, where she is studying marine biology.

MEN'S SOCCER: Playing on the newly renovated Field Turf at Hansen Stadium, the Dixie State Red Storm could not find the back of their familiar nets dropping a 1-0 decision to Hawaii Pacific University in conference play.
Chance Bukowski lit up the scoreboard with six seconds remaining in the first half heading a free kick to the right edge of the net. Hawaii Pacific, ranked seventh in the region, remained unbeaten in Pacific West Conference play (4-0) and improved to 5-1-0 on the season.

The University of Connecticut baseball team pounded out 11 hits and scored runs in four of the first six innings en route to a 12-3 victory over New York Tech Thursday afternoon from Fordham University's Houlihan Stadium. Freshman Robert Van Woert earned the win after allowing one run on three hits while striking out four in six innings of mound duty.
Hawaii Pacific University 6, Southern Connecticut 5: At Central Oahu Regional Park, Hawaii Pacific University edged Southern Connecticut State 6-5 in the opening game of a doubleheader. The nightcap was suspended in the bottom of the seventh due to darkness, with SCSU holding a 12-11 lead. The game will be completed tonight at 6.
