The following people have been indicted by a Kanawha County grand jury.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. It means only that the grand jury believes there is enough evidence of a crime to merit a jury trial.

JACKSON - Over the past year, about 20 people have been indicted on felony charges for not paying court-ordered child support.
We go after the worst of the worst and try to create a deterrent," Atty. Gen. Jim Hood told The Clarion-Ledger newspaper of Jackson.

Any error resulting from an amendment of the indictment shortly before trial that greatly expanded the time frame in which the indicted offense was alleged to have been committed is not frivolous for purposes of Anders v. California; counsel will be appointed to argue the error on appeal.

Al's broad range of service to his community gives him the necessary experience and insight to serve the people of Broward County with distinction and honor," [Charlie Crist] said on Monday before about 150 people in his glowing introduction of [Jones]. "His commitment to the community's young people during his 40-year career as a coach and educator and his involvement on the board of Memorial Healthcare System, including serving as past chairman, has demonstrated his desire to keep the best interests of all residents in mind.
"You're talking about a district which has the most needs, and one that has had the worst representation since it was formed in 2000," said Allen Jackson, who twice ran unsuccessfully against [Eggelletion] for the seat, and has opened a campaign account to run i...

[Darren Dopp] made the complaint in a letter he wrote to this week to a commission member, lawyer Daniel R. Alonso, saying [Herbert Teitelbaum] didn't pursue Dopp's claim that he was following the direction of [Eliot Spitzer] in the scheme. Instead, Dopp said Teitelbaum asked the Albany County district attorney to look into a possible perjury case against Dopp.
In his March report based on that interview with Dopp, Scares concluded Spitzer may have lied when he told investigators he wasn't involved in a plot against [Joseph Bruno] and that Spitzer could have been indicted had he not resigned in disgrace in the prostitution scandal. Dopp recounted conversations and e-mails that indicated he was directly ordered by Spitzer in a profanity laced exchange to release to a report records track...

Go, Islam! And go Israel, too - for no sooner had Mrs. [Laura Bush] escaped the wrath of Sheherazade than "dozens of [Jewish] protesters" on the Temple Mount began to heckle her with cries of "Free Pollard now!" - "a reference to Jonathan Pollard," The New York Times explains, "who is serving a life sentence in an American prison for spying for Israel" (which is sort of like locking up the sheriff for doing his job). Laura, of course, was completely unfazed.
In the same week that Laura Bush got her reward in Jerusalem, the Times reported on the torture and murder of two "detainees" in Afghanistan and "the poorly trained American soldiers" who are now charged with their deaths. I suppose we should be grateful that any paper still reports such things, but let's not be fooled. Had thes...

NEW JERSEY merits a mention in the venerable Harper's Index in the newest issue of Harper's magazine. It is not a flattering reference.
Minimum number of New Jersey public officials who have been indicted since 2002: 104.

New corporate governance laws, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, enacted during the last two years are reshaping the role of the CEO and other upper-level corporate executives and are shifting the balance of power far beyond the boardroom. Longnecker points out that the Sarbanes-Oxley regulations punish thousands of executives and accountants who are not corrupt, based upon the actions of a few who have been indicted over the last few years. Furthermore, he argues that ambiguity in the boardroom post-Sarbanes-Oxley will continue as a fear of overarching legislation persists.
