BLOOMINGTON -- Two insurance companies on Tuesday filed a lawsuit claiming Illinois Power is liable for an electrical explosion that wrought an estimated $4 million in damages to the McLean County Law and Justice Center.
The lawsuit brought by Hartford Insurance Co. of Illinois and Westfield Insurance Co. contends the Decatur-based power company failed to adequately inspect, maintain and repair its equipment, which blew up in the seven-story building's basement electrical vault.
