A picture of Jesus hanging outside the principal's office at Bridgeport High School will not be taken down, the Harrison County Board of Education decided Tuesday.

After spending close to $19,000 to defend itself, the Harrison County Board of Education has decided to end a legal battle over a portrait of Jesus Christ that once hung in a county high school.

CLARKSBURG - The Harrison County Board of Education said it will fight civil liberties groups' efforts to remove a painting of Jesus Christ at Bridgeport High School.
The board vowed earlier not to spend public money defending itself but had given outside interests a Tuesday deadline to raise at least $150,000 for a defense fund.
