Catherine Choi says there's absolutely no pun intended when she predicts that 2012 will be her company's time to shine.
Choi is president of Bulbrite, the Moonachie-based lighting manufacturing and supply company founded by her father 40 years ago. Jan. 1 is when federal regulations requiring light bulbs to be more energy efficient take effect. Choi sees the new directives as an opportunity to educate consumers and the lighting stores that sell Bulbrite bulbs about the company's products and to spotlight Bulbrite's innovation and technology advances. Bulbrite sells an energy-efficient halogen bulb with the same shape and light quality as traditional incandescent bulbs.

We've had these lamps for many years and never had any problems, but they said that they used too much energy and also could start fires. Do you know anything about this?
There are actually two separate issues here, and I think you'll be surprised if you do a Web search on torchiere lamps and you see how much has been written about them in the past 10 years or so. Their standar...

The government's announcement follows the lead of Australia and the Canadian province of Ontario and will take effect in 2012. Canadian retailers will be required to stock more efficient light bulbs such as compact fluorescents and halogen bulbs.
