SUGARCREEK TWP., Greene County -- Bell-brook High School has been ranked among America's best public high schools in Newsweek magazine's annual list of best public high schools, school officials learned this week.
The list is based on "how hard school staffs work to challenge students with advanced-placement college-level courses and tests," according to the magazine's website.

FAIRBORN -- City schools Superintendent Dave Scarberry faces a retire/rehire public hearing tonight, where his salary is expected to will be cut and save the district $125,000 during the next five years.
Scarberry would retire July 28 if the school board votes for the re-employment. Under that scenario, Scarberry said he'd be paid less than his 2010-11 salary of $145,147 -- which is at the top end of school administrator pay in Greene County.

After receiving complaints about a Nativity scene on a school bulletin board, the superintendent of Arkansas' Greene County Tech School District removed the image. That, however, sparked vehement complaints of a different sort, and the superintendent soon returned the scene to the board. "To be honest with you, we offended a lot more people by taking it down than leaving it up," Superintendent Jerry Noble said. "So we put it back up.
