Marygrove College invites the public to participate in an interactive arts exhibition featuring haikus written about the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. People are encouraged to view the exhibit and then respond to poet [Mursalata Muhammad] Muhammad on her blog's Web page located at www.haikumiddllepassageexhibit.blogspot.com. Responses can be musical, written, visual or performing. There will be a reception on Feb. 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. In the fall of 2006, poet Mursalata Muhammad, an associate professor of English at Grand Rapids Community College, made an open e-mail call for visual artists and musicians to select one of the haikus in her collection for interpretation.
