A Hurricane woman was indicted on a murder charge in one of 37 indictments returned by a Putnam County grand jury on July 13.
The indictment of Tracy Wright, 28, of Hurricane, lists murder of a child by parent, guardian or custodian by refusal or failure to supply necessities and child neglect resulting in death.

Say Marin Clean Energy proponents, rather than act as a cautionary tale about energy markets and public power, the San Joaquin story actually is a cautionary tale about the tactics PG&E has been using to block public power plans. After the state law passed in 2002 that allows cities and counties to form their own public power agencies, the San Joaquin agency, which comprises 12 jurisdictions in the Central Valley, was out in front of the pack. "San Joaquin started the request for proposals process in November of 2007," says Dawn Weisz, a Marin County sustainability planner and interim director of the Marin Energy Authority, "and they had locked in a deal with one supplier in January 2008." Attorneys for defendants in a sweeping corruption probe tied to San Bernardino County's $102 million settlement with Rancho Cucamonga developer Colonies Partners LP complain that prosecutors presented one-sided evidence to a criminal grand jury in April.
Among the evidence prosecutors didn't present include the March 2009 Grand Jury testimony of Colonies co-managing partner Jeff Burum, who at the time was called as a witness during a scandal at the county Assessor's Office.

A Kanawha County grand jury indicted 69 people last week, Prosecuting Attorney Mark Plants announced.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. It means only that the grand jury believes there is enough evidence of a crime to merit a jury trial.

SAN BERNARDINO - Hasty decision-making and slack financial oversight led airport officials to spend millions on used equipment when new equipment could have been bought at a cheaper price, according to a Grand Jury report.
The San Bernardino International Airport Authority in 2007 awarded a $4.1million contract with a 10percent contingency to developer Scot Spencer - who served time in federal prison for bankruptcy fraud - for the purchase of used jet bridges and other equipment, the San Bernardino County Grand Jury report said.

PETERSBURG - Second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony charges against Keon Hall were certified to the grand jury in a preliminary hearing in General District Court on Friday.

SAN BERNARDINO - Airport officials on Wednesday continued to pick apart what they say are inaccuracies in a scathing Grand Jury report as they defended airport construction costs and their relationship with controversial developer Scot Spencer.

MADISON -- A grand jury is investigating how $850,000 in federal money was used in a thus-far unsuccessful effort to build Sunshine House, a place that would provide respite and end-of-life care to seriously ill children, according to the project architect, a former board member.
