An alternative to offshoring is domestic sourcing, or outsourcing in one's home country. A subset of domestic sourcing, known as rural sourcing, is emerging as a significant option within the information technology industry, either as a standalone delivery model or as part of a global outsourcing solution. This article presents the example of one rural sourcing firm's achievements through a technology based partnership with a rural university. ATLANTA - Records of what every company pays in wages and details about people looking for work and how they lost their jobs are among the files vulnerable to unauthorized exposure, according to a recent state audit. Last week, the state began notifying nearly half a million Georgians that their personal information held in government files had been compromised - many from driver's license files. The records were found among the home computers of a state programmer who was discovered accessing databases beyond what his job required.
The Department of Labor (the Department) is amending its regulations governing the certification of the employment of nonimmigrant workers in temporary or seasonal non-agricultural employment and the enforcement of the obligations applicable to employers of such nonimmigrant workers. This Final Rule revises the process by which employers obtain a temporary labor certification from the Department for use in petitioning the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to employ a nonimmigrant worker in H-2B status.
