  • On the evening of Sunday, September 25, 2011, the "Soul" of Frances Mae Woods Coleman, formerly of Roanoke, took flight on angels wings to Heaven. She was born in Roanoke, Va., on April 11, 1923, to the late Armita Beatrice and Kenton Woods. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Adams Coleman Sr.; sisters, Gladys Woods, Iris Saunders and Hortense Woods; brother, Kenton Woods Jr. Frances was educated in the Roanoke City School System. She was a proud graduate of Lucy Addison High School. She matriculated at Bluefield State College and retired from the Roanoke City School System. Frances was a beloved member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

  • Mother Sarah Mason Woodley, 76, formerly of 400 Spain Drive, Petersburg (Prince George County) departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond, following a brief illness. Mother Mason Woodley was a native of Sussex County, but lived the majority of her life in Prince George. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester Richardson and Elsie B. May and reared by the late Jessie May Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Deacon Royal Mason Sr.; grandson, Leigh Franklin Mason; sister, Gladys Giles; and brother, George Adams.

She was a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis B. Richardson; a daughter, Janet Deans; five sisters, Lois Stevens, Gladys Hawks, Elda Woods, Eloise Diszynski and Leona Adams; and four brothers, Asa Adams, Vaden Adams, Romeo Adams and Buell Adams.
