The Ferndale Garden Club recently hung greens and red bows on the light posts along Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in the downtown business area to decorate for the holidays. In just two short years, Trezevant's Angel Tree program has grown from providing holiday gifts for 76 children last year to 103 children this year. Youths from the Ira Samelson Jr. Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis, who received these holiday gifts, visited Trezevant on Dec. 17 for a luncheon and gift-giving celebration, led by Trezevant residents and staff members. The Angel Tree is a program in which paper angels list the name of a child in need, and each member of an organization like Trezevant chooses a paper angel that gives them the name of the child for whom they will purchase holiday gifts. Children make their wish lists for gifts so that they are sure to get items they both want and need during the holiday season.
