Geraldine Viola Wilson, the oldest of five children of James and Marion Powell, was born July 2, 1931, in Portsmouth, and passed away June 12, 2003. Her remains will be interred at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery Saturday at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the graveside. The family will receive friends and family for a repast at Jem Banquet Facility, 1504 Portsmouth Blvd., between 3 and 4 p.m. A private repast for family members will immediately follow.
She was a member of North Street Emanuel AME Church and was an accomplished pianist. She graduated from I.C. BLOOMINGTON - More people with disabilities will need to move from their homes into nursing homes if a state cut to the personal assistant program takes effect Sept. 30, people with disabilities and their advocates said Tuesday.
If we lose this program, it will be devastating for people like Norman," said Geraldine Wilson of Bloomington. Her 45-year-old son, Norman Wilson - paralyzed from the neck down since he was the victim of a hit-and-run car crash in 2007 - lives at home with daytime help from a personal assistant.

NO ONE will ever forget Flip Wilson's "Geraldine" character, introduced on the comedian's immensely popular TV series, "The Flip Wilson Show" (1970-1974). Sassy Geraldine was known for a lot of things, but especially two catchphrases: "What you see is what you get" and "The devil made me do it.
Television commercials have given us such familiar lines as "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature," "I can't believe I ate the whole thing," "Try it, you'll like it," "This is your brain on drugs" and "Where's the beef?"
