LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The judge in the Robert Blake murder case delayed opening statements Monday for two weeks because of the theft of his defense lawyer's computer.
Attorney M. Gerald Schwartzbach told the court he would need more time to prepare because he lost materials in the computer taken in a burglary from his home.

Robert Blake's attorney on Wednesday in Los Angeles appealed a $30 million wrongful death verdict against the actor, saying jurors discussed O.J. Simpson, ignored the lack of evidence that Blake killed his wife and decided to "send a message that celebrities and rich people cannot get away with murder.
The award to the family of Bonny Lee Bakley was the result of prejudice and jury misconduct and should be reversed, attorney M. Gerald Schwartzbach wrote in the 55-page appeal.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Robert Blake's cries and moans the night his wife was killed were genuine, his lawyer said at his murder trial Thursday, dismissing as mistaken witnesses who suggested the actor was faking grief.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Robert Blake's latest lawyer says there is almost no way he'll be prepared to defend the actor on charges of murdering his wife by the Sept. 9 date the case is scheduled to go to trial.
Gerald Schwartzbach said he has given up all of his other clients and moved from northern California to Los Angeles in an effort to catch up on the case. But with 60,000 pages of evidence and a large number of audio and video recordings to review, plus several missing items of evidence to locate, he said beginning the trial in three months is all but impossible.
