Another treasure trove of letters to be found in the mass of materials in the Edith Turner archive is 66 letters sent from George E. Turner (Edith's brother) to his mother, Mrs. George E. Turner (there is no mention of her first name in any of the letters) in Redlands from Sept. 10, 1942, through May 29, 1944.
George enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 28, 1942, at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, and after a short sojourn in New England he was sent to England, from which the vast majority of letters were sent.
