died on May 22, 2010, at the Masonic Village Health Care Center in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, after a two-year struggle with dementia. George was born on June 1, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Jeanne M. and George T. Roberts Jr. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946, and graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. He worked in accounting at U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, and then in internal audit at Clevite Corporation, TRW, and Scott Fetzer in Cleveland (Ohio), from which he retired in 1989.
