Born and raised in Taft, California, George graduated from Taft High School and attended Taft Junior College for one semester. He transferred to the University of Redlands in 1942 and graduated in 1947.

CHESTERVILLE -- Options for dealing with the May landslide on the George Thomas Road were explained to about 40 residents gathered Monday for an informational meeting.

George was born on June 1, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Jeanne M. and George T. Roberts Jr. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946, and graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. He worked in accounting at U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, and then in internal audit at Clevite Corporation, TRW, and Scott Fetzer in Cleveland (Ohio), from which he retired in 1989.
