Today at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, my family will celebrate the six-month memorial of my dear grandfather, Lee Michael Lewis, who went to heaven this past August, after a long and fruitful life. I find it most fitting to commemorate the wonderful man whom I love to call "Giddo" by sharing some aspects of his character with you.
Giddo approached life courageously! He never backed down, not once. In 1923, he accompanied his mother and younger siblings on a small ship across the Atlantic Ocean to come to America from Lebanon. He had only received word by mail that his father and other siblings would be waiting for him in West Virginia or America.
