Created in SRI International's Speech Technology and Research Laboratory (STAR), the latest V2DB patent is one of about 50 patents in SRI's portfolio. Since 1946, SRI, and eventually STAR, has been conducting client-sponsored research, licensing its technologies, forming strategic partnerships, and creating spin-off companies like Nuance and Discern. STAR does research for the government and commercial sectors in all areas of speech technologies. MACHIAS - In the latest of a series of incidents, Down East Community Hospital has been disciplined by state and federal agencies for a number of serious violations within the last year.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services recently ordered the hospital to operate on a conditional state license, an action deemed "necessary to protect the interests of the general public," said Catherine Cobb in DHHS's Licensing and Regulatory Services division.
