  • PASSAIC For PBI Regional Medical Center, the red ink continues to flow since Passaic Beth Israel Hospital's 2004 purchase of The General Hospital Center at Passaic. Between 2000 and 2003, Passaic Beth Israel consistently lost operating revenues, from $5.4 million to $3.6 million. The year after the merger, the new entity lost $22.4 million in 2004, according to the hospital's financial audits.

  • Douglas A. Duchak of Mahwah is now acting president and chief executive officer of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. He replaces Daniel A. Kane, who has taken a leave of absence. With the hospital since 1991, Duchak had been senior vice president for financial and administrative services and, before that, was chief financial officer. Over the course of 20 years he has been an executive for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, General Hospital Center at Passaic, Pascack Valley Hospital, and The Valley Hospital.

  • PASSAIC -- St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic has reached an agreement with a Brooklyn-based realty company to sell its Pennington Avenue complex. The hospital, which emerged from bankruptcy protection last year, reached a deal on Monday with D & M Realty of Brooklyn, a hospital spokeswoman said. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
