DAYTON -- After legal wrangling that has lasted a decade, Ohio has been awarded a $14.7 million judgment against four defendants stemming from a closed hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facility. The defendants didn't properly close or assess the property, 636 N. Irwin St., after it was closed in 1995 by Republic Environmental Systems Ohio Inc., formerly known as Ecolotec, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and state attorney general's office said Friday, Oct. 16.
