The alluring aspect of the 2006 Biennial Juried Exhibition at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art is the juxtaposition of the old and new. The show, which alternates with the Portland Museum of Art biennial as the major survey of contemporary art in Maine, includes more than two dozen young artists getting their first shot at high- profile exposure.
On the other hand, the exhibition also includes work by several of Maine's best-known painters and photographers - Connie Hayes, Yvonne Jacquette, Tillman Crane and Gary M. Green among them.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Bodies believed to be those of a Geor-gia pilot and his 16-year-old daughter who were killed in a plane crash 17 days ago off the coast of Vilano Beach were found Monday after a shrimp boat snagged the wreckage of a downed airplane.
Gary Tillman, 47, of Rome, Ga., and his daughter, Hannah, had been missing since their plane disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean on Dec. 18 after taking off from a stop at Craig Airport in Jacksonville. Of the two other passengers, Anna Kipp, 16, was alive after the crash but died shortly after at Flagler Hospital, and Rachel Hostetler, also 16, survived.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A shrimp boat on Monday apparently snagged the wreckage of a small plane that crashed last month in the Atlantic Ocean, killing three of the four people on board, officials said.
St. Johns County sheriff's Sgt. Chuck Mulligan says the agency believes the plane that the boat's crew snagged is the Cessna 195 that crashed Dec. 18, killing three Rome, Ga., residents: pilot Gary Tillman, 43; his 16-year-old daughter, Hanna; and Anna Kipp, also 16. Passenger Rachel Hostetler, 16, escaped the plane and was rescued.
