Gary was born October 19th, 1964 to Gerald and Patricia (Vearrier) Collins in Oakridge, Oregon. It was in the early 1980's after Gary's army tour that he moved to Prosser, WA. He attended school in Oakridge & Prosser and then moved to Boise, Idaho and started his family. After 3 years he moved back to Toppenish, Washington and was blessed with 3 other children. Gary worked at Washington Beef, Independent Foods, and All Seasons Heating and Cooling. He moved to Arizona for a short time to attend the trade school for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He then returned to Oakridge, Oregon were he was blessed with another child. In 2007 he moved to Alaska where he met his wife Alecia.

Gary owned and operated Bickford Auto Body, a reputable and successful business for 40 plus years. He loved golfing and spending time with his golf buddies at Hermon Meadows Golf Course. Gary had a passion for, self taught, and mastered the art of woodworking and cabinetry. He enjoyed his many fishing trips with friends. In his earlier years, Gary enjoyed racing stock cars. He wanted to fly planes, so through persistence and dedication, which was indicative of his nature, he obtained a private pilot's license.
