This study examines the cause of the Melamine Scandal, a major food safety crisis that took place in China in 2008. Drawing upon game theory, it focuses on the interplay between two major stakeholders in the process of enforcement of food safety regulations-the regulatory agency of the government, and the public, which consumes manufactured or processed food products. The authors found that the Melamine Scandal was a symptom of malfunctioning of the mechanism of food safety controls in China. The reason for the lack of efficient regulations was that the compensation structure failed to provide the regulators enough incentive to perform their duty.

In the late April, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) posted a request for information about its statement of objectives for a serious games initiative to train luggage screeners. TSA wants to make sure it has the right concepts and wording before opening bidding on a contract to develop a training video game. TSA envisions a game in which computer-animated virtual characters, avatars, would play the roles of screeners, staff law enforcement officers and passengers to include friendly, aggressive, elderly, young and even terrorists. Meanwhile, to reduce the number, the service is using its Small Business Technology Transfer program to seek a developer of Driving Wisdom, Web-based training to improve young drivers' judgment.

Bethany (W.Va.) College said today that its scheduled nonconference football game Saturday at King's College in Wilkes- Barre has been postponed because of immense flooding in the Luzerne County region.
It is the second game in the two days in the district to be postponed by flooding brought on in Eastern Pennsylvania by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
