Speaking of young children, the children cast in this film: Malik Hammond as "John-John," Jeremy Gumbs as "Mikey" and Khail Bryant as "[Emily]" are adorable. Union, divorced with no children, said she drew from her sister's and mother's experiences as parents stating, "No, I don't have children and I'm not even close. The children in this film all have very distinct personalities and I tried to treat them like little individuals. They (the filmmakers) actually found kids who were very natural and had not been exposed to the Hollywood life. They were so great and their reactions were so real. When we were filming the scenes in the mall with a real Christmas tree and a Santa, they wanted to see Santa just like the other kids at the mall. They were great and well-behaved.

We try to cover everything - socks for dad and shirts for mom," Union said. "Initially we thought we would adopt a school a year but we have been on the same school for five years; we did not realize there was such a need.

"People who say they don't have the time - that's not true, You do have the time, it's just a matter of what you do with it. It's important for me to use my celebrity for a cause that will benefit others. If I have a voice and people will hear it, then I should use it," she said.

CH: Guess what? Gabrielle's mother, Theresa, and I were best friends all through our childhood. We thought we were blood sisters. Gabrielle's grandmother was my godmother, and I lived with the Union family for a few years because my mother, Helen, travelled a lot as a musician. I asked her, "How do you know Gabrielle Union?" She said, "Fool, that's my daughter." I was like "Get out of here!" because I hadn't put two and two together since ...
