NEW YORK - Gun-toting vixen Fiona takes great pleasure in firing off guns and explosions in the TV series "Burn Notice.
But the woman who plays her isn't comfortable with that. Actress Gabrielle Anwar says she's "adverse to any kind of weaponry and violence."

's The Librarian was one of the most enjoyable TV movies I've seen. Noah Wyle revealed hidden comic talent as an overeducated nerd thrust into an Indiana Jones role against his will. He was chosen to protect the repository of humanity's greatest secrets, hidden in a library's basement. No ordinary librarian, he suddenly had control over Pandora's Box, the Ark of the Covenant and other mystical artifacts. His job description included traveling to exotic lands to save the world.
The Librarian was at once exciting, romantic, poignant and hilarious. That's a tall order for a sequel, and it's no surprise that The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines falls short. It plays like a standard comic adventure, as Wyle's Flynn Carsen heads off to protect King Solomon's Mines from the bad gu...

You don't have to be an American to play one on TV. Like the actors mentioned in the accompanying article, those listed below (by place of birth or where they grew up) play prominent roles on U.S. television. A few portray aliens - both the foreign and the extraterrestrial sort - but most impersonate Yanks.
England: Dominic Purcell ("Prison Break"), Lennie James ("Jericho"), Jayne Atkinson ("24"), Polly Walker ("Cane"), Paul Blackthorne ("Big Shots," NBC's forthcoming "Lipstick Jungle"), Joely Richardson ("Nip/Tuck"), Saffron Burrows ("Boston Legal"), Dominic Monaghan and Marsha Thomason ("Lost"), Dominic West ("The Wire"), Sonya Walger ("Tell Me You Love Me"), Natascha McElhone ("Californication"), Ian McShane ("Deadwood"), Jamie Bamber and James Callis ("Battlestar Galactica"), Jason ...

USA's "Burn Notice" returns for its second season at 11 p.m. Thursday, chronicling the further adventures of fired spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), his ex-girlfriend Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), his hypochondriac mother (Sharon Gless) and his best friend, Sam (Bruce Campbell).
Season 1 ended with Westen hoping to learn why he was fired; Season 2 finds him with a new handler, Carla (Tricia Helfer, "Battlestar Galactica"), who gives him assignments. But her role is likely to remain secondary to those of the other women in Michael's life, especially that of his mother.

RED RIDING HOOD (2011, Warner, PG-13, $29) -- With this supernatural romance/horror movie/who-dun-it, "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke might have bitten off more than she could chew. Otherworldly Amanda Seyfried is perfectly cast as a medieval maiden who, in addition to being torn between two suitors (Max Irons, Shiloh Fernandez), is being menaced by a talking werewolf whose true identity is a mystery. The romance works well enough but as soon as Gary Oldman shows up as a werewolf-hunter, the film takes a turn for the hammy, and the plot machinations grow increasingly silly. Extras: commentary by cast and crew, gag reel, music videos, alt ending and audition tapes.

NEW YORK -- It would have seemed improbable two years ago, but Chris Brown is coming to a theater near you in a romantic comedy. The singer and actor will star alongside Steve Harvey, Gabrielle Union, Oscar-nominee Taraji P. Henson and Michael Ealy in "Think Like A Man," an adaptation of Harvey's best-selling advice book for women, "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man.
Details on the casting were confirmed last week by a representative for Screen Gems, which is producing the movie.

TV is off and running in the new year, trying to get a jump on the Winter Olympics, which arrive Feb. 12 on NBC. In an unusually busy January, series that took a holiday hiatus will return with new episodes, while shows slotted for midseason begin turning up on the schedule.
For some network series, though, the break will last longer. Making room for "American Idol" and "24" and trying to stretch the season into May, Fox will delay the return of "Glee" until April 13. ABC will hold back "FlashForward" and "V" until March, and the CW will do the same for "90210," "Melrose Place" and "Gossip Girl.
