The man accused of eluding Passaic cops in a chase that resulted in a fatal crash is wanted in Virginia in a case that mirrors Monday's high-speed attempt to escape from police, according to law enforcement there. Calvin Raines, 39, of Petersburg, Va., is being held in the Passaic County Jail without bail on a fugitive-from-justice warrant from Virginia. Raines was arrested Monday in connection with a narcotics bust that spiraled out of control when he allegedly tried to escape Passaic police officers after a drug transaction on Sherman Street in Passaic.
A minor-league hockey player wanted for murder in North Carolina was captured in Colorado Springs early Friday after police negotiated a peaceful end to a Christmas morning standoff at a north- side hotel. Bogdan Nikoloevich Rudenko, 32, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant and booked into El Paso County jail without bond, jail records show.
