The Bessemer Group's new wide area network links local area networks with routers - Fractional T1 The Bessemer Group is establishing a wide area network (WAN) that will use routers to link local area networks (LAN). Local segments of the WAN will be connected by T1, and circuits that do not justify full T1 will be connected with fractional T1 (F-T1). Florida Informanagement Services - Network Management Florida Informanagement Services' (FIS) five-person staff provides 130 banks and savings and loans organizations with network management and financial data processing services. FIS' system consists of either a telco digital access cross-connect system (DACS) or Unisys CP2000 front-end processors at five sites; T1 connections from those sites link back to Orlando, and client institutions are linked to local nodes via 9.6K-bps modems. FIS also plans to offer frame relay, local area network (LAN)-to-LAN connections and videoconferencing.
