When Frederick Miller launched his small brewery in 1855, light beer referred to color, not calories; Chicago was a distant market; and a full year of production tapped out at 1,200 barrels roughly the equivalent of a modern brew pub.
After 150 years of Miller Time, Miller Brewing Co. now sells 39 million barrels a year, making it the nation's second-largest brewer. The company has 6,200 employees, including 1,700 in Milwaukee, and ships its beer throughout the world.
