209 documents for Francois Beauchemin
  • Once the Ducks gained the look of a contender in the eyes of Bob Murray, the general manager wasted little time making a move. On Wednesday, forward Joffrey Lupul was on his way out of town again, and defenseman Francois Beauchemin was on his way back.

  • ANAHEIM - After the Ducks' on-the-fly rebuilding over the summer, it led many to believe the low-scoring victories that marked the team's 2007 Stanley Cup run were a thing of the past. Certainly losing marquee defensemen Chris Pronger and Francois Beauchemin and adding Joffrey Lupul and Saku Koivu would tilt the team's balance in favor of the offense. Sunday's 5-4 win over the Kings in the Ducks' preseason finale only reinforced that hypothesis.

  • Apparently even one Fedorov is one too many for Brian Burke. The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim general manager shipped Sergei Fedorov and a fifth-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday for hard-nosed center Tyler Wright and rookie defenseman Francois Beauchemin.

  • Sidney Crosby sat out practice Monday with a bruised foot suffered in the Penguins 5-4 win in the home opener over Anaheim on Saturday at Mellon Arena. During the first period Crosby was struck in the right foot by a wicked slapshot off the stick of Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin and fell immediately to the ice.

  • Winger Tyler Wright and defenseman Francois Beauchemin showed up as expected on Wednesday to complete the deal the Mighty Ducks made Tuesday with the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Sergei Fedorov. Unfortunately, the new additions didn't bring victories.

  • PLAYERS TO WATCH Anaheim: The Ducks possess the best defensive trio in the NHL today: Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger, both former Norris Trophy winners, and Francois Beauchemin. Niedermayer, who won three Stanley Cups in New Jersey, is smart, steady and thoroughly dependable. Pronger, also the Ducks' points leader in the postseason with 14 (three goals, 11 assists), is huge and mean but can be rattled and takes many bad penalties. Beauchemin would be a first- pair defenseman on any other NHL team.

  • ANAHEIM - On a night when Francois Beauchemin had two assists in Toronto and Chris Pronger blocked six shots in Detroit, the 13,869 Ducks' fans who showed at at Honda Center Wednesday needed programs to identify the players on their favorite team. It's only the first game of the preseason, but a new era has clearly begun.

  • ANAHEIM, Calif. - Colorado forward Andrew Brunette was back on the ice Saturday during the Avalanche's afternoon practice at Arrowhead Pond, and he expects to play today in Game 2 of the team's best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal series against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Early in the second period of Game 1 on Friday night, Brunette absorbed a devastating hit from Anaheim's Francois Beauchemin, crumpled to the ice and stayed there for about a minute.

  • Teemu Selanne scored a goal and assisted on three third-period power-play goals, and Anaheim set a franchise record for road wins with 20 by downing the Blue Jackets, 5-2, in Columbus, Ohio. Chris Pronger had two goals and an assist for the Mighty Ducks, who are chasing their first division title since entering the league in 1993 and the President's Trophy for the most regular season points. Ryan Getzlaf and Francois Beauchemin each added a goal and an assist.

  • VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Corey Perry scored the go-ahead goal on a power play 7:51 into the third period as Anaheim recovered from a double-overtime loss at home in Game 2 with a 3-2 victory over Vancouver on Sunday in NHLplayoff action. Francois Beauchemin and Dustin Penner also scored, and Jean- Sebastien Giguere made 24 saves as the Ducks took a 2-1 lead in the series.
