SAN FRANCISCO - Relatives of a San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium two months ago said Monday they were grateful the main suspect was in custody.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Doctors for the San Francisco Giants fan who was severely beaten outside Dodger Stadium says he has made significant improvement despite a series of "ups and downs" since the March attack.
In a progress report issued Monday, the chief of neurosurgery at San Francisco General Hospital confirmed accounts by Bryan Stow's family that he's been able to follow some commands and interact with loved ones. But, Dr. Geoff Manley says it's still unclear how far Stow's recovery will take him.

Michael Smuin, former Utah ballet dancer and choreographer for Broadway, film and television, died Monday in San Francisco of an apparent heart attack at the age of 68.
Smuin collapsed during a rehearsal at the City Ballet Studios where his company, the Smuin Ballet, rehearses. He was treated by paramedics and taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles Times.
