Following a summary of Harlem Week 2008 events and activities slated for this summer, Judge Milton A. Tingling stressed the importance of the State's Surrogate Court, which was once commonly known as "Widows and Orphans Court." Tingling, who is actively seeking the judgeship of the court, noted that $6 billion exists under the court's administration. "This is [a] very important position with particular resonance for the poor in our community, and it should not be taken lightly," Tingling said.
