Over the last year and a half, West Virginia State football Coach Earl Monroe has done a lot of second guessing.

The Big East Conference has been sent reeling by the defections of Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia. Many could say the conference is on the ropes for football. Clearly, additions are needed for football or that sport could bust the conference further apart. As most have said for years, Notre Dame joining for football would be great medicine. I believe convincing Kentucky to join for football and all other sports with Notre Dame makes a nice pair of anchors from the west, not to mention solidifying all other conference sports.
Kentucky has a slim chance of ever dominating the Southeastern Conference in football, and its fans bleed blue for basketball. Otherwise, staying in the general Northeast is the only answer that makes Big East conference sense for all sports.

It's the end of the Big Ten as we know it.
With Nebraska joining in 2011 - not to mention the possibility of others also climbing aboard the expansion train - the Big Misnomer puts its 11-team alignment on the field for one final time this fall.

The Mountain West and Conference USA announced a football association, a partnership that Air Force may not end up being a part of.
Air Force has been interested in the possibility of joining the Big East, and a report said the academy would soon be officially invited.
