In Tuesday's flower show at the Wayne County Fair, best of shows for hybrid tea roses went to Carol Morris, Apple Creek; miniature roses, Doris Troutman, Wooster; gladiola, Betty Bridenstine, West Salem; dahlias, Jim Shaffer, Wooster.
Artistic amateur was awarded to Stephanie Schwarzwalder, Shreve, with artistic amateur best interpretation going to William Ogden, Wooster. Ken Blanchard of Apple Creek and Vicky Puster of Lakeville took home artistic open division, with best interpretation open division going home with Kevin Horst, Wooster.

More than 25,000 visitors got an early taste of spring - and a rescued German shepherd mix won the top pet award - at the Tidewater Builders Association's Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show, held March 4 to 6 in Virginia Beach.
The event featured hundreds of exhibits for the home and garden, as well as 11 display gardens, floral competitions, a Green Building Council walkabout and a competition for Tidewater's Top Pet hosted by the Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Enjoy the love that blooms between rescue pets and their owners - plus flowers and home decor - when the Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals joins the Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show Friday through March 6 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
The SPCA will feature the top six finalists for Tidewater's Top Pet contest, which is looking for the area's best rescue story. Entrants will be featured online at www.vbspca.com, and supporters "vote" by making a contribution to the SPCA.

Michael Ludwig, a begonia horticulturalist and exhibitor, begonia judge, begonia historian and one of the premier begonia experts in the nation, will present "Everything About Begonias and More" at 1 p.m. Sunday in the special exhibit area of the flower show, on the Esri campus at 380 New York St., Redlands.

An estimated 250,000 spectators will descend on the Pennsylvania Convention Center this week to attend the Philadelphia International Flower Show, America's oldest indoor flower show, begun in 1829.
This year's event, titled "Springtime in Paris," welcomes visitors to a Parisian garden via a 37-foot Eiffel Tower archway. The garden includes lavender, lilacs, roses and tulips set off by French music and romantic lighting.
