Fishing once was a dead issue for former McLean County Coroner Bill Anderson. He was a hunter when he lived in Bloomington.
But, retiring to Leesburg, Fla., where largemouth bass grow to huge sizes, changed that. Anderson loves getting out on a lake this time of year. Central Illinois is still emerging from a long, wet winter. But Florida bass fishing is already well under way for the season.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The death of an endangered North Atlantic right whale last month prompted federal officials to temporarily ban all gill net fishing off the Florida and Georgia coasts through the end of their calving season.
Experts estimate the North Atlantic right whale population at only about 300 animals.
