University of Oklahoma Students Start CDHC Careers CHICAGO, Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of Oklahoma recently celebrated the completion of coursework by the first group of students in a pilot program created by the American Dental Association (ADA) to improve oral health in underserved communities. The Community Dental Health Coordinator (CDHC) pilot program is modeled on the community health worker, which has proven extremely successful in similar capacities in the medical system.

Taking a cue from a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge, a First Amendment group is asking a federal judge to let the public view more of an execution than what is permitted. Dan Barr, an attorney with the Arizona First Amendment Coalition, wrote in a motion to Judge Neil V. Wake that the media and public have a "clearly established" right to view an execution from when the condemned is escorted into the death chamber and hooked up to intravenous lines. Right now, witnesses only view the portion of the execution from the reading of the death warrant to the inmate being declared dead, a span of about 10 to 15 minutes.

Memorial Health System took the first step toward building its own doctor network Wednesday, announcing that it has hired a group of eight surgeons to become employed physicians at the hospital. In the ongoing public debate over the city-owned hospital's future, Memorial CEO Dr. Larry McEvoy has repeatedly laid out his plans for the hospital to work closely with a network of specialists and primary care physicians to build an integrated system like those at the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic. On Wednesday, Memorial announced that the physicians at Associates in General and Vascular Surgery have agreed to become the first major addition to that network.
