WILBERFORCE -- A Department of Education audit of Wilberforce University's handling of federal financial aid and procedures for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 academic years found the university is administratively incapable to participate in federal financial aid, mostly because of a lack of oversight of its financial aid office. Given the serious weaknesses in the university's system of internal control over (financial aid programs)" and the seriousness of some of the findings, it is "questionable" whether Wilberforce has the administrative capabilities necessary to administer financial aid, the report said.
As the heart of college financial aid season approaches, the Clarke College Financial Aid Office will offer extended hours to better serve students and families in answering questions about award letters and other financial aid processes. Extended hours will be held on March 3, March 11, March 19, March 30, April 7 and April 16, when the office will be open from 8 a.m.- 7 p.m. Special hours will also be offered on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m.-noon.

An email was sent to 14,312 students, stating, "A review of your academic transcript indicates that you have reached the limit on attempted credit hours and are no longer eligible for financial aid. REDLANDS - Music Changing Lives is expanding its reach with tutoring by university students and a grant for a mobile studio. Music Changing Lives, a nonprofit based at the Redlands Community Center, received a $8,291 grant May 12 from the Community Foundation to fund the expansion of their music program, according to Music Changing Lives CEO Josiah Bruny. Music Changing Lives began working with the financial aid office at UC Riverside to hire federal work study students as tutors for local students, according to Bruny.
