As the heart of college financial aid season approaches, the Clarke College Financial Aid Office will offer extended hours to better serve students and families in answering questions about award letters and other financial aid processes. Extended hours will be held on March 3, March 11, March 19, March 30, April 7 and April 16, when the office will be open from 8 a.m.- 7 p.m. Special hours will also be offered on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m.-noon.

About 14,000 West Virginia University students were wrongly told Tuesday by the university's Financial Aid Office that they weren't eligible for financial aid services for the coming school year. An email was sent to 14,312 students, stating, "A review of your academic transcript indicates that you have reached the limit on attempted credit hours and are no longer eligible for financial aid. Any financial aid previously offered to you for 2011-12 academic year has been cancelled.

REDLANDS - Music Changing Lives is expanding its reach with tutoring by university students and a grant for a mobile studio. Music Changing Lives, a nonprofit based at the Redlands Community Center, received a $8,291 grant May 12 from the Community Foundation to fund the expansion of their music program, according to Music Changing Lives CEO Josiah Bruny. Music Changing Lives began working with the financial aid office at UC Riverside to hire federal work study students as tutors for local students, according to Bruny.
