Chesapeake High School's first golf team coach and longtime area teacher John B. Irvine Jr. passed away on June 2 at the age of 72 in his home on Dataw Island, S.C. He earned his master's degree at Morgan State University in Baltimore and pursued his doctorate from the University of Maryland. NORFOLK - , 67, of the 500 block of Oak Grove Road, passed away June 1, 2010. He was born in Norfolk to the late William A. Sawyer and Lucille W. Sawyer and was also predeceased by his brother, Wayne A. Sawyer. Frank was a graduate of Frederick Military Academy, Frederick College, and he served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He enjoyed a 38-year career in finance and banking, retiring as a senior vice president at Bank of America.
