Team Astana riders Alexandre Vinokourov and Andreas Kloeden were taken to the hospital after being injured in separate crashes during the 113-mile trek from the Burgundy town of Chablis to Autun.

Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland keeps the overall lead. Pozzato, of the Liquigas team, won in a mass sprint finish, ahead of Oscar Freire of Spain and Italy's Daniele Bennati. The leading riders covered the 182 kilometers (113 miles) from the wine- producing town of Chablis in central France to Autun in about 4 hours 39 minutes.

  • GHENT, Belgium -- Gert Steegmans won the second stage of the Tour de France in his home country Monday, with many riders left cut and bruised following a crash minutes before the finish. This was Steegmans' first stage victory at the Tour. Belgian teammate Tom Boonen was second and Filippo Pozzato of Italy was third in the 105-mile ride from Dunkirk, France, to Ghent.
