BETHPAGE, N.Y., June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cablevision Systems Corporation's (NYSE: CVC) Bronx Field Service and Audit Technicians voted resoundingly to reject joining the Communications Workers of America (CWA) in an election held today. Employees voted 74 percent to 26 percent - nearly a three-to-one margin - against joining the CWA. Cablevision issued the following statement:
The IRS national office has issued a Technical Advice Memorandum (TAM) in connection with a taxpayer's deduction for a liability for future trade promotion liabilities. The TAM resulted from an IRS field audit which originally disallowed the taxpayer's deduction, but was upheld by the national office. In the current situation, a taxpayer attempted to deduct a liability for future promotions that were to be conducted in connection with its sale of a product. As is customary in the industry, a promotion program was offered where the customer paid the asking price of the product, and, in turn, the taxpayer would pay rebates to the customers.

The audit, released recently by NASA's Office of Inspector General, estimated that cleaning up the agency's portion of the property would cost $200 million.

These guidelines do not have legal standing but rather are meant to provide a uniform approach for agents and their supervisors to work with taxpayers and tax professionals in interpreting many of the complex issues that arise from multi-state residents.

They further tested this model using computer simulations. The model is based on three factors identified by auditing standards and prior academic research: Competence, Work Performance, and Objectivity. The results of the analysis revealed that modelling the "And" relationship is essential for assessing the strength of the IA func...
