The saga of a crooked contractor who helped put three North Bergen officials behind bars has shifted to Bankruptcy Court, where lawyers for a Little Ferry boat maker are trying to block the sale of a $1 million home on the Jersey Shore. Hobby World Development Inc. alleges that Leonard Farinola, while cooperating with the FBI, siphoned more than $2 million from the construction of its boat factory and bought real estate in his wife's name with the loot.
A bankruptcy trustee is seeking court approval to accept a $1.3 million offer for the Little Silver home of a convicted contractor who helped send three North Bergen officials to prison. S. Bankruptcy Judge Kathryn C. Ferguson blocked the sale of the home in August after lawyers for a Little Ferry boat manufacturer alleged that Leonard Farinola skimmed $2 million from a construction project and used some of the loot to buy real estate in the name of his then-fiancee, Angela Freschi, and relatives.
